A TASK FORCE OF INFORMATION KEEPERS
Ensuring information in the world could contribute in a substantial way to rebuild or to mantain the peace. Often the weapons are misunderstanding, no knowledge, censorship, propaganda too. That´s why it sprung up the idea to have „I Caschi blu dell´informazione“, „a task force of informationkeepers“.
The idea was from a group of opinion leaders and journalists (Alberto Abruzzese, Lucia Annunziata, Giulio Anselmi, Bocchini, Bolchi, P.Borgomeo, Giampiero Gamaleri, Marcelle Padovani, Pulcini, Serventi-Longhi, Fausta Speranza, Sergio Zavoli, Franco Zeffirelli).
It was presented in Rome on may 1999 at the side of Foreign Press Association that joined the iniziative. The aim is to arrive in every conflict area (and in the world there are so many running tragedies) as a task force for humanitarian help, to defence information in that area and to open a channel to ensure exchange of news in every way.
The theorical idea needs realising in a concrete way so the hour is struck to launch a project. First of all „I Caschi blu dell´informazione“ tried to put themselves in contact with other promoters of similar projects, first of all in Italy. They discovered „The Mega chip“ project by Planet (an indipendent association for cultural exchange in the world) and Formin (a Forum of humanitarian and volontary organizations as Amnesty International Italia).
Their aim is to create a global Observatory for the Media to monitorate what is happening. It could be the first step.
A meeting is organised in September, exactly few days before the Third ONU Assembly for population, to present the iniziative in a so high side.
In the same time „I Caschi blu dell´informazione“ presented the idea to the European Institute for the Media, the core of communication studies in Europe. For the high professional standard of the Institute „I Caschi blu dell´informazione“ are sure that the project could soundly go on, if it is worth, in the best way.
